Scotland & L'Hallowe'en

For the first week holiday, Laura and I decided to go to Scotland. This decision was mostly due to the fact that we'd only worked 3 weeks and wanted to be responsible with our finances. Turns out, we shouldn't have gone to Scotland. Because now, we want to move to Edinburgh! The city is absolutely amazing and much easier to navigate than London. Not to mention it is gorgeous and the people are a tad nicer (from what we've seen so far!)

Edinburgh Castle

After our second last overnight bus ride ever, we arrived in Edinburgh early on Saturday morning. We spent the next two days walking around, sightseeing, resisting spending money on baby kilts, and taking advantage of the fact that Edinburgh has more pubs per square mile (km?) than any other city IN THE WORLD!

On Monday morning we started our 3-day tour of the Highlands and Isle of Skye with Macbackpackers. Highly recommended if anyone ever wants to travel around Scotland and is not with anyone confident enough to drive themselves! Green everywhere - definitely my kind of country :) Our tour guide was boatloads (busloads) of fun and managed to tell about a million intricate, detailed stories about the country as we went. He was also able to include family clans in some stories depending on anyone on the bus with Scottish ancestry. From what I heard about the Graham clan, they liked to take people's land, were involved in the Jacobite battle with the English, and were also messengers to the Vatican after Edward the 1st was killed. Need to read up on my history a bit more but if Craig (our guide) was correct, Edward the 1st had it coming.

Our first stop was at Loch Ness which was pretty cool. No monster sightings though. Laura braved the water and I still maintain that if I had a suit I would have gone as well. But unfortunately, only my toes experienced the 800ft deep water.

After our overnight bus ride back to London we decided that it would be the last one we ever took (haha). We could have flown back for about £10 more ... lesson learned! Once home we slept for a while and then began the plans for our Hallowe'en pre-drinking get together. It was nice to have a night out with the flatmates minus Bev (living it up in London). Didn't quite make it to the bar in time but a fun night none the less!!
